How To Size an Ice Hockey Sock

Finding your hockey sock size at home is easy! Without your shoes on, measure from the ground to the middle of your thigh. Correspond your measurement to our general sizing chart below. You can also add in your shin guard size and height to really dial in which hockey sock is best for you! We also recommend rounding up to the nearest inch for a comfortable fit.

How to Check if it Fits Correctly

Put on your hockey jock/garter belt and hockey shin guards. Place your foot through the top of the hockey sock and pull over your shin guard until the hem of the sock is flush with the bottom of your shin guard.

Proper Fit

If they fit properly, the sock should be loose enough to make it over your shin guards without it being difficult but still tight enough to help keep everything in place during the game. The sock should be long enough to cover your entire shin guard and have enough extra material above your knee to attach to your Velcro jock tabs or garter belt.

Improper Fit

If they are too big, your socks will have too much extra material that won’t help secure your shin guards and will look loose and baggy. Too small will result in a struggle to fit the socks over the shin guards or not even at all. Forcing the socks over the shin guards increases the chances of rips and tears.
