The Easton ST6 hockey shin guards offer a great combination of value and performance.
The outer shell uses a similar construction as the rest of Easton ST line. Featuring the six air vent holes in the shin. However, on this model there are not corresponding holes in the liner. Easton has also given this pad a wider knee cap allowing the knee to sit deeper into the pad. This offers additional protection to the outside of the knee and a great fit. Similar to the rest of the Easton line this pad features their Sling Tec™ design which effectively keeps the liner from rest against the shell of the pad ensure more impact absorbtion.
Easton has used a combination of liner materials on this pad. All using the a mesh exterior helping moisture management. The softest material used is in the grey knee portion of the pad. This liner is not removable however, the grey knee portion can flip out to help drying. It would of been nice to see a removable liner to allow for washing. The 3" elastic strap offers a snug fit keeping the pad in place during play. The upper nylon strap is not extremely comfortable however, it is removeable which is especially nice for players that tape their shin pads.
Easton has done a nice job at extending the calf warp to be capable of wrapping around the entire calf providing additional protection to the back of the leg.
- Protection:
- Wider kneecap allows the knee to sit deeper into the pad providing addition protection to the outside of the knee
- Sling Tec™ cradles and supports the shin a comfortable distance away from the outer shell of the pad. This space between the shin and shell allow impacts to be dispersed before reaching the shin.
- Single density foams wrap around the calf to give additional protection to the back of the leg
- Ribbed shin design to reduce direct impacts
- Liner:
- Full length mesh liner with a soft knee donut for added comfort
- Fit:
- Ergonomic shin design to contour to the natural shape of the leg
- Removable velcro nylon upper strap below the knee
- 3" elastic velcro strap to ensure a snug fit
- Tapeline just below the knee to offer a more efficient fit to players that use tape
- 6 air vent holes in the shell of the shin to provide addition air circulation through the pad
- Level of Play: Ideal for recreational to intermediate level of play
