The Bauer One100 Goalie Skates use some of the most advanced technologies ever seen in a goalie skate to make them extremely lightweight and comfortable.
The Bauer One 100 goal skates use a tech mesh quarter package which is identical to the quarter package used in Bauer's One80 player skates. This quarter package provides you with a stiff outer boot to provide excellent support and protection from shots. The quarter package also uses thermo-formable materials to allow for a customizable fit with these skates. Bauer has used their Hydrophobic liner along with a mesh material around the ankle to provide a comfortable feel on the foot as well as help wick moisture away. The One 100 goalie skate uses an improved version of Bauer's Flex heel tendon collar. The Flex heel tendon collar allows the heel of the skate to move with the goalie without restricting the range of motion.
Bauer has used some soft foams to create a snug fit around the ankle along with a padded 52 oz. tongue with additional lace bite protection on the frontside. For additional comfort, Bauer has also used a comfort foam lining in the bottom of these skates with their SuperFit footbed above that to help position the foot in the skate. Bauer understands that goalies spend most of the game on their feet, so comfort is key. They have put a lot of comfort features into these skates and are even saying that these are the most comfortable skates that they have ever designed.
The biggest change to the One100 goalie skates from Bauer's previous models is their new VERTEXX cowling. Bauer has figured out that cutting a hole in the medial forefoot of the cowling results in a 28% improved attack angle and the lightest goal skate on the market. A composite patch covers the hole for pro level protection. In addition to that cut out, Bauer has made small cut outs in the back of the cowling as well to help reduce the overall weight. The VERTEXX cowlings are holding in super-strong 3mm stainless steel runners that are easily removed by taking off one screw and reduce the overall weight of the skates. The VERTEXX cowling also uses vent ports in the bottom to allow for moisture to exit the skate and allow some airflow in and out of the skate. The front of the VERTEXX cowling uses a square design which will help provide additional coverage as well as help with rebound control.
Bauer has done a great job designing the lightest goalie skate on the market without sacrificing any protection.
