The Bauer One80 Goalie Skates provide a lot of the same great features of the One100 including Bauer's new VERTEXX cowling.

The Bauer One 80 goal skates use a tech nylon in the quarter package, which will be a little less stiff than the quarter package of the One100, but still offers great support and protection. The quarter package of these skates use thermo-formable materials to allow for a customized fit. Bauer has used a combination of a Clarino liner and a mesh material at the ankle to provide great moisture wicking in addition to a more comfortable fit. The One80 goal skates are using an improved version of Bauer's Flex Heel Tendon Collar, which allows the heel of the skate to move with the goalie without restricting the goalie's range of motion.

Bauer has designed all of their new goalie skates with comfort being the main focus and you can definitely see that with how many features they are using to provide comfort. The One80 goalie skate uses soft foams around the ankle that allow for a snug fit as well as comfort. In the tongue they have made it longer and thicker, using a 48 oz. tongue with lace bite protection to ensure that you get a comfortable fit on the top of the skate. Bauer understands that goalies must spend a majority of the game on their feet, which is way they have included some soft foams underneath their contouring footbed to ensure that goalies are comfortable throughout the game.

The biggest change for the One 80 goalie skate from previous models is the new VERTEXX cowling. Bauer has figured out that cutting a hole in the medial forefoot of the cowling results in a 28% improved attack angle and incredible decrease in weight. A composite patch covers the hole for pro level protection. In addition to that cut out, Bauer has made small cut outs in the back of the cowling as well to help reduce the overall weight. The VERTEXX cowlings are holding in super-strong 4mm stainless steel runners, slightly larger than the 3mm runners on the One100, that are easily removed by taking off one screw. The VERTEXX cowling also uses vent ports in the bottom to allow for moisture to exit the skate and allow some airflow in and out of the skate. The front of the VERTEXX cowling uses a square design which will help provide additional coverage as well as help with rebound control.

Overall, Bauer did an awesome job with these skates providing great comfort and protection while remaining extremely lightweight.
