The Bauer RX4 Classic Goalie Pants offer protection suitable for advanced roller or intermediate ice play.
The RX4 goal pants use a heavy duty nylon outer shell to help keep the pants lightweight and durable. On the inside of the pants, Bauer has used their classic blue mesh liner in collaboration with a mesh liner toward the bottom of the pants to help wick moisture from the body and keep the pants dry. The RX4 goal pants use mesh panels in the crotch and at an angle on the backside to give a free range of motion. The RX4 goalie pants use a nylon belt, traditional lacing, and suspender ready buttons to provide easy adjustments for a perfect fit. The Bauer RX4 Goal pants use a pre-curved thigh panel with molded foam protection to provide solid protection to the frontside of the pants. The RX4 goal pants offer some protection around the waist and kidney with a foam layer.

Comments: These are good, basic goalie pants. I have never used them with pucks (only ball hockey) and I am almost certain I wouldn't feel comfortable facing pucks in them against people who had power behind their shots. They fit very loose and offer great mobility and good amount of coverage when defending the net. The backside and inner thighs don't offer too much protection, save for a few, thin foam pads. I have had mine for about 18 months now and while there are normal areas of wear and tear they have held up really well. I also play on an asphalt surface, so I would imagine they would hold up even better on ice.

Comments: These goalie pants are a good pair of pants for a beginner goalie. The design of the pants is somewhat unusual, with the sides higher than the front or back. While it offers good protection on the sides, I found some shots finding a small unexposed area between my chest protector and pants, which gave some pain for a few minutes. Nonetheless, if you are just starting out as a goalie, these are good pads to use, however, once you're at the intermediate to advanced stage, you're going to want a different, more protected pair of pants.
