The Bauer Performance Goalie Chest Protector offers a similar look and feel as the higher end Elite and Elite Pro models.

New features on the 2012 Performance chest protector include square shoulder caps improving mobility and protection. Another new feature is the adjustable arm length giving the goalie a customized fit.

The Performance chest protector is using high quality synthetic leather, durable nylon and mesh materials for excellent breathability on the exterior. Enhanced poly and foams are used throughout the chest protector providing lightweight protection. The Performance chest protector uses a dual shoulder cap setup using molded poly and foam with the inner layer being segmented offering contoured protection on the shoulder. The chest blocks utilize an anatomical design which allows the protection to contour to the body. There is about a 2.5" foam piece that extends for the sides of the chest protector to provide additional rib protection. The ABS protection provides a customizable fit with the chest protector to ensure you are fully protected.

Bauer's using several adjustment features to ensure a snug fit with this chest protector. Elastic strapping around the elbow and forearm secures the plastic elbow caps keeping them in place. In addition to those straps, there is one more leather velcro strap around the wrist with a neoprene-like liner on the inside. Securing the back of the chest protector is an adjustable 1.5" elastic buckle strap to secure the fit. Providing additional adjustment options, Bauer is using a velcro flaps at the top of the chest protector to allow the goalie to adjust how the chest protector rest on the shoulders.

The Bauer Performance chest protector offers very nice protection for goalies looking for lightweight equipment at a considerably lower price.

Comments: The Bauer Performance Chest Protector is a great pad for the beginner to intermediate level players. Getting to the advanced level though, you will begin to feel some shots, especially around the stomach. I really like the velcro compared to the buckle straps you would find on Reebok or Vaughn chest protectors. The velcro gives you a more flexible, custom fit that the buckle straps couldn't do. Another good thing about this chest protector is it rides fairly high on your collarbone, making the need for a throat protector not as high, though I still wear one. Overall, its a great, lightweight pad for an affordable price. If you are just starting out as a goalie or at the intermediate level, I recommend this chest protector.

Comments: My first set of goalie equipment. Great set of shoulder pads for the price!

Comments: I have used this now for about 10 games , great fit and protection for inline goaltending, and for the price! A little light in the rib areas, but again, for the pricepoint it def doesn't dissapoint. I'm 6.1 and an XL was a good fit. The ability to adjust the arms and stomach protection is also a big plus.

Comments: Great for Girls hockey

Comments: Bought this product to try to save money on a new chest protector that didnt smell since I had my old one for about 8 years. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for in this case. While the chest protector would be good for lower levels of ice hockey and sometimes roller hockey, I have found at higher levels of play, especially on ice, the puck penetrates the chest protector and causes a dull pain. Pros: - good collar bone / neckline protection - Adjustable arms are good for someone whose arms may be shorter/longer than the norm - Velcro-attached stomach protectors provide added lower stomach coverage Cons: - Somewhat inadequate protection in the thorax/chest/stomach area - Size Large is for someone sub 6 foot, which is not exactly clear initially
