Overview

The CCM FitLite FL40 Hockey Helmet with Cage is the entry-level model in CCM's FitLite family. The FL40 utilizes a multi-density liner that has an excellent out-of-the-box fit while providing a solid level of protection. The two-piece PE shell features plenty of air vents to help players stay cool throughout the game.

Tool-free adjustment features in the shell allow players to change the fit of the helmet on fly. This model comes with the FL40 cage, which provides good on-rink vision with its thin, round bar design.

Comments: I bought this helmet for recreational skating. I skated very well as a youngster, but itâ•Â˙s been over 50 years since I skated on ice. So, guess what? I bought this helmet, new skates and it all came back and I am happy.  The cage detaches easy, and I took off the ear protectors because I wear eye glasses and that way they fit better. This is a comfortable helmet, even for recreational skating.

Comments: My son has this helmet which we switched from Bauer to CCM.  So far I'm a little disappointed in the helmet due to the fit.  I have attempted to adjust and keep the adjustment before each game and the helmet continues to move on my son and tip backwards.  A girl on the team just got the helmet also and she is having a fit issue also.

Comments: We have depended on the CCM line of FL40s to help outfit almost all of our first time and newer hockey players that have no idea how to buy a hockey helmet. We only have a single retailer in the metro area that carries hockey helmets, and thus they are not within the budget of first time players, and are not near us. Although these don't have a ton of adjustments available, the "bang for the buck" is high, and they last well. We love the tool free length adjustment, as we can fit a bunch of kids in a short amount of time and then they buy them themselves with confidence. Prior models had parents overtightening the adjustment screws and cracking the helmets. Kids report liking how lightweight and airy they are; we often play roller hockey when it's 70 degrees outside, so ventilation matters.

Comments: I bought this helmet this summer for my son who is 9. It is very comfortable and looks great. The price was very reasonable. The only problem is that one of the cage screws came out and one of the chin strap snaps as well. Otherwise completely satisfied.
