The CCM Ultra Tacks Hockey Shin Guards are the premier shin guards in the Tacks protective lineup. These pro-level pads combine the best technology to create a comfortable and protective shin guard in a lightweight package. 

In the interior knee cap, CCM uses their innovative smart foam, D3O® (orange foam in knee cap). This material changes in consistency depending on the force of the impact, so it softly absorbs low-force impacts and immediately stiffens and hardens upon high-energy impacts. The outer knee cap is constructed of a hard plastic (PE), which protects the knee joint by dispersing the energy from impacts away from the knee cap. At the top, the Ultra Tacks shin pads feature a removable and adjustable thigh guard. Constructed from molded foams and PE inserts, the thigh guard gives extra protection and a custom fit. The outside calf guard is constructed of a dual molded high density foam, which is flexible, lightweight, and still highly protective. The inner calf guard uses a PE molded insert and medium density foams for a firm wrap. 

The Ultra Tacks liner is a removable premium microfiber construction, with moisture wicking properties. The knee lock keeps the D3O® foam right where it needs to rest on the knee cap. Beneath the liner, the shin uses a molded foam base liner to provide extra support and protection when blocking shots. The strapping system is a two piece design with a strap fully wrapping around the leg underneath the knee and an extensive calf wrap. The upper strap is a neoprene-backed nylon strap to comfortably secure the pad, and the calf wrap is a vented elastic strap for a custom fit.
