Overview

The True XCore 9 Grip Hockey Stick showcases cutting-edge technology that the hockey market has yet to see. This True Hockey Stick features XCore Blade Technology that gives players measurable gains in shot power, puck spin and accuracy. Visible from the outside, True embedded a compressible urethane insert that starts in the heel and goes until the mid-point of the blade. When taking shots, the blade will now effectively compress and absorb when the puck first makes contact, immediately forcing the puck begin spinning unlike the competition's.

The XCore 9 is a true power stick, ideal for those who are looking maximum shot velocity and accuracy. True designed it to have a traditional mid kick point, allowing players to aggressively load and release heavy clappers and one-timers. Axenic Technology works to provide the upmost consistency in the flex profile, feel and balance by utilizing the only true one-piece construction process, unlike the competition's "spear shaft" process.

The blade utilizes an Active Bond II blade core that uses two support bridges that run heel to toe. The blade face and backhand directly attach to these bridges, giving players better feel in the hands while also preventing foam breakdown. The XCore Technology embedded in the heel portion offers quite the dampened puck feel, making catching passes and nifty dangles a breeze. The XCore 9 stick also boasts SmartPly Technology, which is the laminate of epoxy and resin used throughout the stick. It utilizes up to 25 layers of unidirectional carbon fiber that strategically aligned to offer maximum impact strength, response and consistent flex.

Specifications

  • Construction:
    • SmartPly with 100% Carbon Twill
      • 25 layers of unidirectional carbon fiber are strategically engineered for torsional response and impact strength
      • Small tow size for a tight weave
      • Fibers carry less load since they are not completely flat, making a decrease in stiffness less noticeable in case of impact damage
    • Axenic True-One Piece Construction
      • Patented process that compression molds the shaft and blade together, unlike anything else on the market
      • The shaft walls thin towards the top while the blade laminates build the walls thickness back up, providing second to none consistency and balance
  • Flex Profile:
    • Mid-Kick Point
      • Provides ultimate show power by loading more potential energy than a low kick stick, thereby delivering blistering shot speed
  • Geometry:
    • Rounded Corners with Slightly Concave Sidewalls
  • Grip:
    • Grip stick finish
  • Blade:
    • X-Core Technology
      • Compressible urethane insert embedded into the core of the blade from the heel to the center of the blade
        • Expands the sweetspot and increases puck spin for cleaner, harder and more accurate shots
        • Dampens and helps the puck to stick to the blade when catching passes and stickhandling for enhanced control
    • 100% Carbon Twill Weave Wrap
      • Raises the balance point while enhancing responsiveness and feel
    • Active Bond 2
      • Dual support ribs that run heel to toe, attach the front and rear faces of the blade
      • Very efficient at transferring energy, thus providing hard shot power
      • Unique design prevents the foam core from breaking down and losing stiffness
      • Lightweight construction process combined with Axenic Construction provides unparalleled balance and consistency
  • Flex: 65
  • Stick Sizing Guidelines:
True Hockey Measurement = Universal Measurement

Comments: The XCore series of sticks are not suitable for inline hockey. I found that the blue urethane insert in the bottom of the blade causes the stick to drag on the sport court floor when contact is made.
It's a big problem when stick handling, poke checking, ect. because the stick doesn't move how you want it to. The blade basically sticks to the floor whenever the urethane insert makes contact with the sport court floor.
I had the A6.0 stick and this wasn't an issue because it there isn't an exposed urethane blade insert.
I sent an email to True and their warranty dept responded that the XCore sticks are designed for ice hockey use. They were kind enough to replace the stick even though it wasn't damaged.
