Comments: They are made of synthetic leather. I bought these pads and started using them for an Adult Rec League in November. After 3 months of playing them once a week I was run into be someone on a breakaway and after the game I noticed that there was a cut about 3-4 inches long right through the front right pad. The slice must have been from a skate and it punctured right through the fake leather and through the top layer of foam padding. When I called Bauer, they wouldn't do anything. I had a pair of Brian's for 10 years and many more collisions but never had a rip or tear in the pads because they were well made and of REAL leather. I can not recommend these pads for this reason. Clearly they are not made for the rigors of ice hockey.
