The CCM Tacks XF Shin Guard is a standout option for the player who battles, grinds, and seeks elite-level protection at a more approachable price. While offering maximum coverage to the leg, the XF features D3O Zero foam in key impact areas to disperse force taken from blocked shots and heavy slashes away from the body. These areas include the knee donut, outer calf guard, and bottom portion of the shin liner.

Compress-molded EVA foam was used in the thigh portion for added protection and comes with CCM's FlexMotion construction. Players can adjust the piece to find their perfect coverage and maximize their stride mobility. Additionally, AdaptFit was built into the highly protective injection-molded calf guard, allowing players to adjust the dual-elastic straps to find the perfect fit and coverage, regardless of calf size.

For even more customization, the bottom of the liner can be removed and adjusted to meet the needs of a player's style. If you rock tongues in, simply remove the piece so the shell sits closer to the body. Adjust and keep the piece in place if you wear the skate tongues out to ensure you have proper comfort and coverage.

Sizing Chart

GENERAL SHIN GUARD SIZING GUIDELINES
Sitting at a 90-degree angle, measure from the bottom of your kneecap to the top of your foot parallel to your ankle and round to the nearest inch. This measurement equals your shin guard size when worn over the skate tongue. Correspond this measurement with the "Tongue In" column below. This is the most popular style since it offers more coverage and the best mobility.
If you prefer to wear the shin guard under the skate tongue, simply subtract 1" from your measurement, which equals going one pad size down. This style provides a lighter and lower-profile fit.

Very protectiveFor a twice a week beer league player now in my 40s these were an excellent upgrade. I’ve taken a few hard shots to the shins and a few trips onto the knees and haven’t felt a thing. The extra bulk wasn’t to hard to get used to but they are an the bulky side which is the reason for my 4 stars.

One annoying issue, otherwise greatThese are very comfortable and seem to stay put well - fell directly onto one knee and didn't feel a thing. I love how you can remove the extra pads at the top (my breezers kept getting caught on them so I removed mine) and the ability to remove the pad at the bottom if you tuck in your skate tongue is great - BUT - if you remove it there is some exposed "hook" velcro (the abrasive part) that snagged the felt on my skate tongues - when I took my right skate off a significant part of the felt came off/was stuck in the shinguard. I went to a craft store and bought some "sew on" velcro (not the type with sticky tape backing) and added strips of loop velcro to the hook velcro so hopefully it will be fine going forward.

Very protectiveThese shin guards wrap your leg very well. Protections on all sides. I've blocked a number of slap shots and you barely feel a thing. That's probably because of how bulky these pads are. Pros and cons. Love the protection but don't love how bulky these are.

Great protective shin guardsThe shin guards are extremely protective and wrap the leg really well. I've blocked a clapper and barely felt a thing. Either that's because of the shin guards or they have a weak shot, either way, I like the protection / coverage. Only down side is that they are quite bulky and "heavy" compared to low-profile shin guards. Something to get used to.

Monster protectionLove them!!! Kinda bulky, but extremely comfortable. Not as slimline as the Jetspeed line, but way better coverage. Especially for a Beer League. Love the removable piece for the tongues in as well. Took a slapper and felt basically nothing. I would highly recommend these for anyone not wanting to spend high dollars for the Pro. Not much difference in the two of them anyway. Save some money and grab a pair of these.
