True Dynamic 9 Pro MIPS Helmet Review

True Hockey's first time in the helmet game is as exciting for them as it is for hockey players eager to wear them. The True Dynamic 9 Pro Helmet showcases exciting technology new to the hockey market that is designed to protect the brain unlike anything else. Let's take a look at what makes this helmet special!

MIPS BRAIN PROTECTION SYSTEM

Hockey is one of the most dynamic sports in the world, completely unlike swimming where you travel from Point A to Point B in a straight line. Imagine someone carrying the puck around the net where they collide with the defender in the corner. There are many different moving parts that create rotational impacts, unlike most sports.

Traditional hockey helmets have been largely unsuccessful in protecting a player's brain from these rotational forces until now. The True Dynamic 9 Pro Helmet utilizes a MIPS Brain Protection system that reduces these rotational impacts with a unique liner.

The internal low-friction layer allows a sliding motion between 10-15mm in all directions. This reduces the rotational motion that causes strain on the brain.

ONE-PIECE SHELL CONSTRUCTION

Protecting against more traditional linear impacts is another unique design by the True Hockey team. For decades, helmets have been constructed by gluing the internal foam pads to the inside of the external helmet. This method creates gaps between the head and the helmet, which reduces the overall protection level.

True Hockey has manufactured the external shell to the internal liner in such a way that it creates gapless protection around the head. The combination of the featherlight EPP foam and the single-piece shell not only improves 360-degree protection but actually significantly reduces weight.

In fact, the True Dynamic 9 Pro Helmet is the lightest elite-level helmet on the market today.

FIT PAD SYSTEM

The one downfall of one-piece helmets is the lack of adjustability but True Hockey left no stone unturned. While the True Dynamic 9 Pro Helmet is available in three different sizes, each size comes with three sets of different sized internal pads that allow for a 5% larger or smaller adjustment.

No two hockey players have the exact same head size or shape, which is why the FitPad system is so impactful. Players can independently adjust how the helmet fits from front-to-back to side-to-side.

These pads securely fasten to the liner via velcro, which means replacing them is easy and you can wash them to freshen up the helmet.
